T1 or T2 Lamp Holders - What's the difference?

Posted: 3rd July 2017

There are often large price variances of lampholders from different suppliers, without any explanation as to why. When looking at prices it is important to ask if the lamp holder is a T1 or a T2.

T1 Lamp Holders

A T1 lamp holder is a cheaper product usually, found at the discount end of the market. It can only be used with lamps up to 60 Watts.

T2 Lamp Holders

A T2 lamp holder is heat resistant and can be used with lamps up to 150Watts.

Any retailer selling T1 Lamp Holders must ask their customer what it is being used for, and should stock both types. T2 Lamp Holders are suitable for a much larger range of domestic applications.

If someone installs a T1, sells his house without telling the buyer and something like a fire happens, the vendor is responsible and by extension the retailer.

We are proud to say that all of our lamp holders are T2, and available in both JEGS pre-pack and lose.
